F.A.Q
Why is Chip Tuning Done?

  • Reducing or increasing engine power

    Limiting vehicle speed

    Deleting/removing faults in the vehicle

    Removing existing limiters

Adding or removing any equipment from the vehicle engine

All kinds of software and hardware requirements such as chiptuning can be done with the application.

What is Chip Tuning?

In modern injection vehicles, the engine is managed by a part called the ECU (Engine Control Unit). The ECU manages the vehicle's air/fuel mixture amount, advance, turbo pressure, fuel injection pressure and many parameters based on the data it receives from its sensors.

Many settings such as how much gasoline will be sent at which temperature, when to ignite, etc. are saved in the ECU by car manufacturers. Chip Tuning is the process of rearranging these settings according to the performance and/or fuel economy in line with the customer's request.

What is ECU / car remapping?

In recent years, vehicles have included an ECU, also known as the Engine Control Unit. This is a small computer whose purpose is to control engine functions. In this way, ECU or car remapping (ECU tuning) is the process whereby the ECU configuration is altered in order to improve the performance of the vehicle. In other words, it is when the ECU software that vehicles include by default is replaced or modified and this allows users to customize functions such as fuel injection, sensors, air flow, among others.

How does ECU tuning work?

The main objective of car remapping is to change the manufacturer’s default settings and software in the ECU. The process begins when it is replaced by a new version that can be adjusted and customized according to the owner’s specifications.
Through ECU remapping, the new software connects to the serial port of the car (OBD port), which causes the original ECU software to be overwritten. It is a simple process that has revolutionized the modernization of cars. It should be noted that the different climates, laws and restrictions and the quality of fuels must be taken into account.

Tuning basics – What is air fuel ratio (lambda)?

The lambda factor or Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) is the number that expresses the amount, in mass or volume, of air sucked by a combustion engine for a unit amount of fuel. This relationship is a function of the fuel, the type of engine, its regulation and the carburation. Lambda designates the air/fuel ratio in the form of a mixture entering the cylinder of an Otto cycle engine, compared to the stoichiometric ratio (exact proportion) of the ideal mixture: 14.7 parts of air per 1 part of fuel, all by weight

Tuning basics – What is combustion flow?

Combustion is the chemical process through which energy is released from a mixture of fuel and air. On the other hand, an internal combustion engine is a type of machine that obtains mechanical energy directly from the chemical energy produced by a fuel that burns inside a combustion chamber. In this way, the combustion flow is the way in which fuel flows through the path that takes it to the injection pump and, then, is injected into the chamber. The combustion flow is defined according to whether the circuit is low or high pressure

Engine basics – What are injectors?

Injectors are the elements that are responsible for supplying the necessary amount of fuel to the engine for combustion. They are also defined as solenoid valves capable of opening and closing millions of times with a very precise reaction to the electric pulse that drives them, without fuel leaks. They are responsible for supplying the fuel to the intake duct or the pre-combustion chamber. This is done depending on whether it is a direct or indirect injection system, respectively. And it is carried out in a pulverized way and without dripping so that the fuel is distributed in the most homogeneous way possible according to the engine operating regime

Engine basics – What is turbo?

The turbocharger, or turbo, is a supercharging system that manages to compress the air that flows into the engine in order to make a richer mixture. Through the use of a turbocharger, it is possible to send a greater amount of oxygen that also reaches a greater amount of fuel. In this way, the vehicle generates a stronger response and achieves an increase in power. The turbo consists of a pair of turbines, one that rotates thanks to the action of the exhaust gases and another one, on the other side, that rotates at the same time and pushes the air towards the intake of the engine

What is Adblue off?

Adblue is an aqueous chemical solution consisting of a mixture of demineralized water and urea in 32.5% of nominal concentration. This specialized liquid is used in the systems of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) that incorporate diesel vehicles, specifically, and its purpose is to reduce NOx levels.
The Adblue, also known as DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), is introduced into the exhaust system just before the SCR catalyst. There, it comes into contact with its gases, which generates a chemical reaction that results in NOx becoming nitrogen and water vapor.

What are Burbles?

“Burbles”are odd sounds, also known as”bubbling”noises produced by the exhaust systems of some cars that rumble inside them. They are considered as lean misfirings that do not cause damage to the engine and usually disappear at the time of acceleration. They can also occur when suddenly decelerated, but this only happens if the exhaust has a seam that is not airtight or has a diameter that is too wide that prevents it from maintaining balanced air pressure.

What is Camshaft tuning?

What is known as Camshaft Tuning is a process through which the camshaft is synchronized or adjusted and this action will modify the timing of the valve events in relation to where the crankshaft is located. Adjusting the camshaft will cause the intake and/or exhaust valves to open and close earlier in the engine cycle. The main reason to perform it is that, if it is properly installed in an advanced position, it will significantly improve the car’s performance.

What is Catalyst heating off?

“Catalyst Heating OFF”is a term used to refer to the adjustment files or mechanisms intended to deactivate the cold start function. This can help eliminate the annoying sound generated by rapid heating and keep the RPM (responsible for heating) at a low level shortly after the car engine starts, specifically when the catalyst is removed.

What is Catalyst off?

“Catalyst off”is the term that designates the action of eliminating or removing the catalyst from a vehicle. Many drivers do it because this can bring advantages such as: it allows scape gases to escape faster from the engines and at higher levels, also helps the propeller work more easily and can reduce fuel consumption.

What is Clutch Clamp Pressure Mod?

In order that there is no slippage between the clutch disc and the flywheel, the frictional force of the disc must be equal to the rotational force of the motor (torque). If it is smaller, the clutch will skate. This frictional force decreases when the friction surface of the disc is smaller (placement of an improper disc) or in case the springs or diaphragm lose elasticity and do not make proper tightening on the pressure plate. When the friction coefficient (greased or damaged disc) decreases, so does the friction force.
When abnormalities occur in the operation of the clutch in relation to the Clutch Clamp Pressure (described above), it must be preceded to its verification and the corresponding repair or modification and it is called Clutch Clamp Pressure mod.

What is CVN Bypass Service?

A CVN Bypass service refers to the following: All ECUs that handle the OBDII standard have a calibration verification number along with CALID (calibration identification) that is used to verify the integrity of the vehicle software, and manufacturers use it to determine if the car calibration is original. If the numbers do not match, then it may lose its warranty. With a CVN Bypass service, the original CVN number remains the same even after the car is tuned. Thus, if a car goes to a dealership, it will yield the same CVN number (as original) if some verification process is executed. This service makes the modified files undetectable for diagnostic tools.

What is DPF off?

DPF Off is a term that refers to the elimination of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), an action that is done to avoid the damage that a clogged DPF can cause to the engine. The removal of the DPF is done since, in addition to limiting the vehicle in terms of power and fuel economy, it usually gets dirty causing the vehicle to not be used for several days and can even be damaged in such a way that it must be replaced. In this sense, in a car with DPF Off (DPF removed), the computer system is configured to work without it.

What is E85?

E85, also called”flexible-fuel”, is a mixture of ethanol and gasoline that contains 51% to 83% ethanol, depending on the place and time of the year. The E85 can be used in FFVs (flexible fuel vehicles), designed to operate with gasoline, E85 or any mixture of both. FFVs have no loss in performance when they run on E85, and some even generate more rotation and horsepower than gasoline. However, since ethanol contains less energy per volume than gasoline, FFVs give 15% -27% fewer miles per gallon when operating with E85.

What is EGR off?

EGR Off refers to the state of a vehicle in which the exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR), which is responsible for reducing NOx emissions, has been removed. When removed, it is intended to avoid the operating problems associated with these devices. In addition, vehicles can obtain benefits such as restoring engine power, preventing DPF failure, restoring the MPG and more.

What is Exhaust flap control?

The Exhaust Flap Control is a user-programmable control system that allows the integration of exhaust flaps into your vehicle. This mechanism skillfully converts the driver’s request and opens or closes the exhaust flaps according to the position in which the switch is in the cockpit. In addition, it has a motor protection function depending on its speed and can even adjust in time the flap opening from the engine start.

What is ECO tuning?

ECO Tuning is a process that seeks to boost the performance settings of a vehicle. It is done in order to achieve the highest productivity of an engine, especially if it uses pump fuel and standard parts. The ECO Tuning does not focus on car software but on everything related to torque and fuel consumption. Thus, thanks to their optimization, fuel consumption can be reduced and, at the same time, the vehicle could have a more torquey and better engine.

What is Gearbox tuning?

Gearbox tuning is a process through which the remapping of the controller for the gearbox is carried out. The Gearbox tuning or remapping is executed with the purpose of increasing the vehicle’s performance in addition to improving the driving ability of those who have automatic gear. Through this, the vehicle can achieve a 50% faster gear change, much smoother driving, less clutch wear and more.

What is a Hardcut limiter?

A Hardcut Limiter is a mechanism that cuts fuel at an established RMP limit. This is done for two reasons: it could change the behavior of the engine and also reduce the sound of the vehicle when it reaches the RMP limit. In this sense, a hard cut limiter will cut the fuel injection at a set peak to prevent the RMP from getting a higher point and creating an explosion sound inside the exhaust.

What is Hardcut Popcorn limiter for diesel?

A hard cut popcorn limiter is a device whose function is to modify the behavior of a diesel car when the engine hits the RPM limiter, and also modifies the sound it generates. This is done since almost all standard diesel vehicles will reach the preset RPM limiter and will remain at that exact RPM until the driver intervenes, that is, the soft cut limiter. With the integration of a hard cut popcorn limiter, the engine will bounce in the limiter similar to a gasoline vehicle (hard cut limiter) by cutting the fuel injection at maximum RPM.

What is HPFP_scaling?

HPFP scaling refers to changing the volume of the internal pressurization chamber of the High-Pressure Fuel Pump. This process is carried out since, in those cars that have many modifications, the original fuel pump cannot make enough fuel flow to maintain the system pressure and the car suffers something known as”fuel cutting”. The HPFP scaling is, then, the solution to the problem that is generated when a modified engine requires an additional volume of high-pressure fuel, especially in the middle range (3000-5000 rpm) of the power band.

What is Idle_RPM_Mod?

Idle RPM Mod is the process through which the Idle RPM or Idle Speed is modified or adjusted when the rotation speed at which an engine is running when the engine is idling (when the engine is disengaged from the transmission and the pedal from the throttle is not pressed). When the engine is at idle, it generates enough power to run reasonably smoothly and operate its accessories but generally not enough to do useful work, such as moving a car. The modification solves this issue. The modification solves this problem, reduces speed fluctuations and prevents stagnation.

How does Ignition modification for RON/MON/AKI or Gas work?

Ignition modification for RON/MON/AKI or Gasworks in such a way that it counteracts the negative effects generated when the spark is not strong enough to ignite the air/fuel mixture in cars that have been modified so that more air reaches the engine. In this way, the ignition system works so that, when the air/fuel mixture is turned on, the speed at which the flame passes through the combustion chamber is controlled in order to release the maximum power of its engine and synchronize an effective ignition

What is Immo_off?

The immobilizer is a very important part of the electronics of the newest cars since they offer protection measures to the user and prevent theft. However, it can generate problems when a car is modified and force the user to use a new ECU. Immo Off refers to Immo Removal and, with it; tuners can use other ECUs in their cars by removing the immobilizer.

What is Injector_Scaling?

The term”injector scaling”refers to the process through which the injectors are adjusted or updated to increase the scale value of the injector. This is done because through this value is how the ECU determines how much fuel is needed in WOT vs. Idle. In this sense, a lower value represents less pulse width in this state, which translates to the use of much more fuel. With the Injector Scaling, the values are increased and fuel overuse is prevented.

What is Lauchcontrol?

Launch control is an aid, intended for drivers of street or racing cars. It’s an electronic device that assists the drivers, helping them accelerate from a standing start. This type of technology works by the use of a computer program as well as an electronic accelerator, both of which use the specific characteristics of the engine in order to improve the car’s acceleration in a smooth way. At the same time, the use of this electronic device is also equipped with security, to guarantee the safety of the driver. It avoids engine failure because of over-revving, clutch and gearbox problems and drives wheels spinning out of control.

What is Limited Mappack?

A Limited Map Pack is a pack that contains a lot of options in which you can find all your maps. These are usually the ones needed to make a tuning file of stages 1, 2 or 3. At the same time, their development is specially made for people that don’t want or simply cannot dedicate hours of their time searching in the different packs of maps to find all the maps they need. The Limited Map Pack sometimes contains even more than 200 maps, and on many occasions stage, 2 and 3 tuning files for DPF removal and K04 turbocharger conversions are also included.

What is MAF off?

MAF Off refers to a process through which the mass flow meter, also known as MAF, is removed. Its greatest advantage is related to the fact that the MAF can present a small physical restriction through the vehicle’s intake tract, which reduces the airflow to the engine. Therefore, when the MAF is removed, there is no such restriction and the engine performance is improved.

What is MAF_scaling?

MAF scaling is the process by which the MAF sensor signal is adjusted in a set amount, that is to say, a scale. In addition, that adjusted signal is sent to the vehicle engine ECU. It is implemented to obtain larger injectors that reduce the fuel signal and a larger MAF sensor to control the voltage level that reaches the ECU.

What is NOX off?

NOX off is another name for natural gas cars. The name is given due to the low emissions of certain gasses, like carbon-dioxide (CO2), sulphur (SOx), and specially nitrogen oxides (NOx). This substitution of petrol or diesel for conventional, natural gas is not only for environmental purposes; these types of cars make much less noise than usual diesel-fueled vehicles, which is why they are an interesting option for the population of urban areas.

What is OPF off?

The OPF is an atomizing part consisting of a gasoline particle filter, also known as PPF, GPF and DPF (Petrol Particulate Filter). It is a device that is installed in the exhaust system of gasoline vehicles, specifically in newer ones, to reduce emissions. However, it can bring problems as it can block and also modifies in original sound in high-performance cars. Therefore, the removal of this device is a viable option to recover the sound of your car.

What is pop and bang?

Also known as burbles, it’s a feature from the calibration of the car that allows a misfire (specifically targeted) that happens when the driver lifts off the throttle. Thus, one of the main ways in which this feature is obtained is by modifying the ignition map, altering the specific timing feature on it. This is done to set up the ignition, timing it to produce its maximum power.
Pops and bangs are the sound of the explosion’s echo in the exhaust. When timed correctly, the valve in the exhaust will open to allow gas (along with the well-known sounds) to get out.

What is Readiness calibration?

Readiness calibration consists on coding 8 bits, a set in which each value belongs to the system of emissions of an OBD-II car. These emissions are monitored, and when they all show the mark that says”passed”, it stands for a proper approval of the on-board tests by all of the systems. The readiness calibration shows a screen, which has the script’s name on the title bar, under the”set readiness”button.

How does Rescaling of MAP work?

To rescale the sensor of your MAP, it’s usual to start with the standard sensor installed and then use alive Data to check the MAP with the ignition on, but with the engine not running. As a reference, you can make a log file. Then, fit 3 or 4 new bar in the MAP sensor and enter the new scaling, running the test once more. This will guarantee that the manifold pressure is the same measured before, always leaving the ignition on, engine not running, at idle.

What is DTC Off?

The removal of DTC is a feature that allows the removal of specific error codes from ECU. It’s a feature commonly used to remove parts from the electronic system, like intake flaps and EGR; at the same time, it corrects mistakes caused by softwares. What is most important to take into account is that taking off the DTC won’t solve the problem, because the car can remain in limp mode without activating the DTC.

What is Swirl flaps off?

First of all, swirl flaps are valves in the shape of a small butterfly, which can be found on modern Diesel engines, within the inlet manifold. Their main goal is to help with the regulation of fuel to air ratio, as well as improve emissions at low engine speeds. However, there are a lot of problems associated with them, mainly due to the fact that they become brittle with time and are prone to fracturing. At the same time, the metal flap is held by small screws that can break away.
All of these inconvenient a can result in an important engine damage, which is why a lot of people remove them. The removals depend on the design, but in most cases they are taken out of the manifold and blanking plates are fitted as a replacement.

What is fine-tuning?

Fine-tuning consists of the process through which those parts of a vehicle that turned out to be not as fine after the automotive manufacturing process are adjusted. The large automobile companies usually carry it out in order to improve their different car models and gain a greater reputation among consumers. In general, it is part of automotive tuning that is executed to boost cars in every way, especially in areas that can be neglected while they are manufactured.

How does Lambda modification work?

The Lambda modification process was created to deceive, in a very practical and economical way, the secondary O2 sensors of a vehicle in order to make them think that there is much less oxygen than there really is. Basically, it tricks the ECU into thinking that the engine runs on low fuel and, therefore, generates more fuel during the injection cycle. This makes engine operation more powerful.

What is MAP_scaling?

When tuning a car to increase performance, there will be a greater difference between the minimum and maximum power that the engine can produce. This happens because a large number of loading areas becomes very useful. This is precisely where MAP scaling comes into play. Scaling MAPS allows a much finer motor control to be obtained, especially in the areas where greater effectiveness is needed.

What is map_switching?

MAP switching is a revolutionary feature that can be attributed to a tuned car. This function allows the driver to select between two levels of performance while driving. In order to alternate both levels, the accelerator must be fully depressed and maintained while the rear window switch is switched from off to on or through the user adjustment functions incorporated in the tuning software. In summary, MAP switching defines the choice between two sets of control settings and, consequently, the impulse within the ECU.

What is NLS – No Lift Shift?

No Lift to Shift or NLS is a term that refers to the state of configuration that eliminates turbo lag between shifts. In this way, the driver can keep the throttle fully open during a shift, while the turbo remains internally rotating freely, without restrictions and operating with the target pulse. NLS programs the specific operating conditions of the engine during a shift in order to maintain the momentum safely while changing through the gears, thus reducing its delay.

What is Performance Gauge Mod?

Performance Gauge Mod is a term that refers to the action of assembling performance indicators that allow you to have a sportier and more elegant vehicle. Although many install them in order to make a car look more like a racing one, performance gauges serve for much more than personalizing. They are very useful to show the status (vital singles) of the vehicle. In this sense, you can choose between fuel gauges, temperature gauges, electrical gauges and more.

How does Pop and Bang on sport button work?

Pop and Bang refers to the roaring sound that is heard when a car is accelerating and how good tuning allows this noise to remain even when it slows down. However, there is a specific pop and bang function on sport button. In this way, pop and bang functions only work when sports mode is activated in a car and the process is done by adding that function to an ECU.

What is the REV/RPM limit?

REV/RPM limit refers to the designated value with respect to the speed limit of an internal combustion engine. This is done through the REV limiter, a device whose objective is to restrict the maximum rotation speed of an engine (measured in revolutions per second, RPM) in order to protect it. A REV/RPM limiter is commonly installed by the engine manufacturer but there are devices in the automotive tuning market designed to establish a custom RPM configuration.

What is Shift Boom (DSG FART)?

DSG FART is the term that refers to the noise produced by double-clutch transmissions in ascending changes. It is also known as”burp”and is caused by the fuel that is ignited in the exhaust, specifically by the excess fuel that is deposited in the combustion chamber while the ignition delay process happens. It creates that fart/burp sound when the next gear is activated and the fuel is ignited through the spark plugs.

What is Torque monitoring off patch?

Torque Monitoring off patch is a patch in automotive tuning that seeks to achieve a configuration in which Torque Monitoring is deactivated. Torque Monitoring allows a diagnosis of the problems presented in the engine. In this way, the ECU system detects defects when torque monitoring is activated and it automatically activates the safety mode even when the motorization is actually in perfect condition. To avoid this and get the best out of your engine, you can disable Torque Monitoring by using a module called Torque Monitoring Off/Disable.

How does VMAX speed limit on/off work?

As the name implies, this option allows the tuner to activate or deactivate the speed limit that manufacturers enter in many cars. In this way, this limitation is eliminated by the switch functions to activate or deactivate it. The process is carried out through adjustments in the ECUs thanks to automotive tuning
